In Connecticut, DSDI members celebrate the Declaration

Truxtun Brodhead of DSDI was given the honor of tapping the bell at the State Capitol in Hartford, Conn., on July 4, with his wife Mary in attendance.  This was  the sixth year  that Trux  has  represented  DSDI  at the event.

In   New Haven,  Shelley  Cruz represented  DSDI  at the   SAR  61st   Annual  Ceremony to Honor  the Signers  of the  Declaration of  Independence.   The   event is  held at the  Grove Street  Cemetery where  the Connecticut  Governor’s  Foot Guard  led the procession to the  graves  of  Roger  Sherman and General   David  Humphreys.  The  DSDI plaque is  visible  on the  grave of Roger Sherman.  The  ceremonies included a Roll Call of the  Signers  of the Declaration of Independence,  a selection  of  music  from the Revolutionary  War period  by the  Governor’s  Foot Guard  Field Music Unit,  and  a display of the flags  of the 13 original states  presented by the  Boy Scout Troop 5 of  Wallingford.
